Rotorua has produced another winner.
(Daily Post May 2001 - Kristin Edge)

Maori business woman June Grant won the Best Small Business title at the 2001 Maori Womens Business Awards in Auckland.
Mrs Grant is in America promoting Maori arts and crafts so her daughter Marnie Grant accepted the award on her behalf.
“Mum is absolutely delighted and surprised she has won this prestigious award . . . the high calibre of businesses entered was amazing,” said Miss Grant.
Mrs Grant owns and operates Best of Maori Tourism which opened in Rotorua 10 years ago.
“We’ve survived without compromising our cultural values . . . we havent sold anyone or anything down the river for the almighty dollar.”
Through the Rotorua-based business she sells the works of Maori artists, including carvers, printmakers and weavers using traditional Maori craft methods, and a range of printed clothing with her own Maori designs.
Mrs Grant graduated with a diploma in Craft Design Maori from Waiariki Institute of Technology and also tutored in Womens Studies.
She is well known for her artistic talents and has been commisioned for a wide range of art projects including works at the Rangiteaorere Marae, Rainbow Springs and the Te Pune Kokiri office in Rototua.
